What should a business website include?

A good business website does not have to be large. It has to answer the right questions: What do you offer? For whom? Where? And how can someone get in touch?

The core pages

The basics are a clear homepage, service pages, a page about the business, contact with a form or direct routes and — in Germany — an imprint and privacy policy.

  • Homepage with the offer and next step
  • Service pages that owners and customers can follow
  • Contact with phone, email and form
  • Imprint and privacy policy

Practical details

Then come practical details that are easy to underestimate: a readable phone number, the service area, notes on process or appointments, honest images and a mobile layout that does not get in the way.

Technical basics and the next step

Technically the site should load quickly, use a sensible heading structure and be prepared for search engines. Analytics can help later — but only if it is implemented cleanly and with consent.

What should not be missing is the next step. A website without a visible way to enquire is incomplete, even if it looks attractive.
